Wild, onboard desert race start with Jacob Argubright at the Lucerne Valley for 2020 AMA National Hare and Hound Association round 1 – check out the crash at 17 minutes.
How does this rank among the maddest race starts in off road? Over 350 racers heading for the epic 80-mile off-road course for round one of the 2020 AMA National Hare and Hound Series. No wonder riders like Ricky Brabec are so awesome at racing deserts if this is normal…
Joe Wasson, Dalton Shirey, Nick Burson and Jacob Argubright were the lead riders off the start at round one of the 2020 series last weekend.
Shirey took the FMF Holeshot just ahead of the rest half-way through loop one but drama unfolded as the race progressed. Factory Beta's Joe Wasson had to head back to the pits, while Argubright had to re-group from a crash that twisted his handlebars.
Argubright remounted and charged to the pits behind Shirey to repair the damage. Burson kept Argubright honest, coming in closely behind in third with Smith and Factory Beta's Zane Roberts in tow.
As the leaders headed out onto loop two, Shirey had an issue of his own that forced him to head back to the pits for repair. This left the door wide open for Argubright, who began to build the gap on second place.
Over the remainder of the loop, Argubright remained in front to finish 2:49 ahead of Burson with Ryan Smith officially earned his first ever overall podium in third.
JCR Honda rider and ISDE Women’s Trophy Team Gold medallist, Tarah Geiger came, saw and conquered her first ever NHHA round. Geiger took the win ahead of Britney Galleogs and Morgan Tanke.
