While the entire Enduro World Championship paddock went on holiday for its eight-week summer break, one man continued to race. Determined to keep sharp and race fit, TM Racing’s Aigar Leok opted to contest the short four-round European Enduro Championship.

Initially, it was just for a bit of fun as round two of the series was in his home country of Estonia and since he’s already missed round one of the series in Italy due to EWC commitments, the business of winning titles wasn’t on the agenda.

But come the end of the two-day race Leok was soon up to speed with EEC life. Carding a second place finish on day one he topped the standings on day two. With the taste of victory still sweet in his mouth he headed to round three in Latvia one week later and promptly won again – this time a commanding double win.

Suddenly, Leok was in the hunt for a championship and with the final round of Slovakia just left to run the chance of winning a title was becoming a tempting proposition. And with a another clean scorecard to his name Aigar locked down his first major enduro championship since leaving the motocross world championship just 18-months ago.

“I don’t like to sit still,” Aigar told Enduro21 about his decision to race the EEC. “I like to keep racing once the season starts. Even when I raced MXGP I was the same – always trying to do extra international races. I think it helps to keep me race sharp and improve.”

With the EEC title to his name, how Leok performs when the EWC returns to action with the GP of Sweden this weekend remains to be seen. But based on his current run of form, the man who is affectionately nicknamed as ‘Annoying’ is sure to become a bigger thorn in everyone’s side.
