The Italian rider sustained a broken elbow when he crashed heavily on day one in Torres Vedras. As first rider to enter the test, Albergoni landed into a crowd of spectators on the blind side of a jump when he mistimed his landing. Tumbling down the track, the pint-sized Italian cracked a bone in his elbow, while his Honda collided with a spectator breaking their shinbone.

Working hard to overcome the injury Albergoni feels he is already 50 per cent recovered from his accident that occurred less than two weeks ago.

"So far the progress has been better than expected," confirmed Simone. "At the moment I feel we are at the halfway point in the recovery procedure."

With the healing process having gone better than expected, Simone has been able to replace the hard, restrictive plaster that was supporting his injured left elbow for a newer, lighter one. This will now allow him to focus on a series of intensive physical therapy in order to improve the mobility in his injured limb.

With two weeks to prepare for the second round of the Italian Enduro Championship in Lumezzane, Brescia, Simone is hopefully of making it to the start line and gain as many points as possible in both the Enduro 1 and the overall standings.

"Simone has expressed his desire to return to the second round of the Italian Enduro Championship on June 2," remarked Franco Mayr, HM Honda's team boss.

"The event will be a one-day race so it is possible that he will be fit enough to compete though our main objective at the moment is to ensure his injury heals perfectly in time."
