Ride onboard with Sherco Factory Racing’s Mario Roman for the 2024 Extreme XL Lagares Hard Enduro prologue, the infamous Portuguese course has moved upstream but is still epic like no other.

Lagares might have dropped off many people’s radars since its heyday but Portugal’s biggest and best-known extreme enduro is still going strong and just as epic.

The prologue was the opening challenge of this year’s three-day event with the riders also facing a Super Special urban race on day one, Friday, combining to give overall results which Francesc Clota won ahead of Mario (see below). Saturday saw the race switch to the hills and slippery rock streams for a sprint race ahead of the main extreme Sunday race.

Formerly the street prologue took riders on a spectacular through the old town of Porto but things have moved upstream to a new, less problematic location but still meticulously put together by the Melicias Team behind the event.
